COVID-19: 46-year-old female M’sian among four new community cases in S’pore

SINGAPORE,. A 46-year-old female Malaysian was among the four new cases of locally transmitted COVID-19 infections reported in Singapore yesterday, according to the republic’s Ministry of Health (MOH).

Labelled as Case 59513, the work pass holder works as a sales personnel at Toppan Merrill Pte Ltd of Church Street, but does not interact with clients, said the ministry in its full data released here late last night.

The ministry said that she is a household contact of Case 59474, a 28-year-old female Malaysian who works as finance personnel at BS Industrial & Construction Supply Pte Ltd and was confirmed to have COVID-19 infection on Jan 20.

“She developed a blocked nose on Jan 19 and stayed at home for most of the day. As she had been identified as a close contact of Case 59474, she was contacted by MOH on Jan 20 and placed on quarantine,” it said.

The MOH said the woman reported her symptoms and was conveyed to Sengkang General Hospital where she was tested for COVID-19.

“Her test came back positive on the same day. Her serology test result has come back negative, indicating that this is likely a current infection,” said the ministry.

She is now part of the Case 59429 cluster which has a total of seven confirmed cases now including three other Malaysians.

As of noon Thursday, Singapore recorded a total of 38 new cases, of which 34 imported, and four locally transmitted cases, thus, bringing the total number of infections to 59,235.

So far there are a total of six clusters here.
