Eky ready to rock with Red Giants

KUALA LUMPUR,. National striker Muhammad Shahrel Fikri Md Fauzi will feature for Selangor FC (SFC) in the Super League next season.

Selangor announced the signing of the 26-year-old, who played for Perak last season and is fondly known as ‘Eky’, through its website, www.selangorfc.com, today.

SFC chief executive officer Dr Johan Kamal Hamidon is confident that Eky would take the Red Giants to greater heights.

“Alhamdulillah, after several months, (Selangor FA technical director) Michael (Feichtenbeiner) and (SFC head coach), Karsten (Neitzel) are happy to have finally got the marquee signing they’ve been wanting for next season,” said Dr Johan.

Meanwhile, Eky is also excited to be joining SFC, admitting that he can’t wait to begin his journey with the Red Giants.

“I also want to thank the SFC management, especially (SFC chairman) the Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj for this opportunity. I hope the Selangor supporters will welcome me with open arms,” he said.

Eky, who scored 10 goals for Perak last season, is set to form a deadly attacking combination with 2020 Super League Golden Boot winner Ifedayo Olusegun and youngster Ahmad Danial Ahmad Asri, who has been roped in from Selangor II.

Eky, who has 14 caps and five goals with Harimau Malaya, had also played for PKNP FC, who are now known as Perak II, as well as on loan with Thai Premier League side Nakhon Ratchasima for one season in 2018.
