KPWKM distributes 6,300 food baskets to Semporna, Kunak
KUALA LUMPUR,. A total of 6,300 food baskets have been distributed in seven localities in Semporna and Kunak, Sabah following the enforcement of the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) in the areas from Oct 11 to 24.
Women, Family and Community Development Ministry in a statement said arrangements were being made to distribute similar aid in Selangor and Kedah.
It said the Minister, Datuk Seri Rina Harun had directed the ministry and its agencies to ensure that supplies of necessities are always sufficient and in good condition, and to be prepared in addressing COVID-19.
Rina also visited the food basket temporary operation centre at Bangi Industrial Training and Rehabilitation Centre yesterday, which was opened since March 18, to oversee its preparedness.
The ministry said a total of 799,583 food basket aid have been distributed to household heads so far, which benefited up to 3.1 million people affected by Movement Control Order and EMCO.
“The management of distribution is based on various channels such as direct complaints to the state and district Disaster Operation Control Centres, community leader reference, Talian Kasih line at 15999 and WhatsApp message to 0132615999,” the statement said.
