Three-year wait to end for PR1MA Rantau house buyers, project ready in Sept next year
SEREMBAN,. Buyers of the Bandar Ekar PR1MA Malaysia houses in Rantau here have been waiting for three years to see the project ready before it was abandoned, but now they can look forward to moving to their new homes with the houses to be completed by September next year.
Hamidi Shamsuddin, 36, who bought a house in project when it was launched in 2017, said he was grateful with the news as efforts by him and other buyers in fighting for their right finally paid off.
He said the buyers were initially promised by the developer that the housing project would be ready in two years.
“The project is supposed to be completed in January 2019, but it was delayed due to unknown problems. As buyers, we are worried because we have been making payment for the house every month, but it was not ready as promised.
“However, since 2018, the house buyers got together and we went to approach and deal with relevant parties ourselves, including the PR1MA office, Housing and Local Government Ministry and Public Sector Housing Financing Board (LPPSA) to solve the issue,” he told Bernama when met at the Bandar Ekar PR1MA housing project site, recently.
He thanked Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin, Rantau Assemblyman Datuk Seri Mohamad Hassan and Rembau Member of Parliament Khairy Jamaluddin for thhe assistance rendered in getting the housing project revived.
The Bandar Ekar PR1MA Project involved development of 776 housing units, comprising one and a half-storey houses (210 units) and two-storey houses (566 units), with 80 per cent of the houses sold. As of last year, only 60 per cent of the houses were ready.
The buyers of the houses are mostly Negeri Sembilan civil servants.
