Supermoto rider Khairulamirin to return home early following COVID-19 curfew in Spain
KUALA LUMPUR,. Malaysian Supermoto rider Khairulamirin Yahaya has to return to Malaysia early as the Spanish government decided to implement a curfew in the country following the rise in COVID-19 cases.
The 18-year-old Supermotoland Husqvarna team rider said although he was disappointed at not being able to compete for the Spanish Supermoto Championship this season, safety took precedence over everything else.
“We were supposed to return to Malaysia on Nov 16, but due to the unavoidable situation, we have to go home early.
“With the cancellation of this race, I will improve myself by training more often, and prepare for the SM-Road category race series for 2021,” he said via an audio recording sent to local journalists today.
Several municipalities in Spain are reported to be implementing perimeter confinement following a sharp increase in COVID-19 cases in the country.
